Long Table Farm is a regenerative diversified farm nestled in the hills of coastal southern New England. We grow food to support our bodies, community and ecosystem. We believe you should have access to healthy food, raised without harmful chemicals. Long Table Farm uses low till methods to grow produce, no till methods for perennial crops, including our rotationally grazed pastures where we produce grass fed beef, poultry and duck eggs. We focus on creating healthy soil and biodiverse farm ecosystem.
Our nutrient dense farm products directly feed our community through a 150 family CSA, 2 farmers markets, the New London Community Meal Center, Region 18 Schools and a selection of restaurants and grocery stores. We host a Fall-Spring Farmers Market in our Community Food Center Barn, sharing our cozy timber frame with other farmers, makers and bakers.
Long Table Farm believes in sharing both our abundant food and knowledge. We partner with schools to provide educational experiences and host WWOOFers and Apprentices. We are life long learners and love growing together with our community.
Long Table Farm is part of a web of support and mutual aid between farmers and our local community. Together we can rebuild the foodshed.
Our location in the bioregion
We recognize that the land we farm is the home of the Nehantic Nation. We have learned from local anthropologist Dr. Pfeiffer that the Nehantic Nation exists in diaspora still today, and per-colonial contact there was an abundant, populous and peaceful population of Native People in our region. The Nehantic people have abundant foodways and cultivated this land regeneratively and sustainably.
Long Table Farm practices sustainable agriculture on Beaver Brook Road, Route 156 and McIntosh Road in Lyme, Connecticut. Our home farm was on the Upper Mill Pond when we started farm in the winter of 2013/2014, but we expanded to Beaver Brook Road in 2016. We changed our farm name from “Upper Pond Farm” (which was tied to the main feature of our original field on Sill Lane, the Upper Millpond), to Long Table Farm in 2020. 256 Beaver Brook Road is our home farm and one of our CSA locations. If you are looking for us, check on Beaver Brook Road!
We grow seasonal vegetables and fruits on our 4.6 acre plot on Beaver Brook in Lyme. We also tend two land trust properties in Lyme. At the Bloom Preserve on McIntosh we are growing winter squash and garlic and Hand-Smith where we are reestablishing perennial grasses and have cultivated potatoes and sweet potatoes for 2022. We are so grateful to Lyme Land Trust for access to beautiful, flat farm land.
We use ecologically based agricultural practices to manage our farms holistically. Top priorities are enhancing biodiversity, soil health and structure. We find that healthy soils grow high quality produce.
Long Table Farm recycles nutrients, encourages composting on and off farm, and builds resilient systems. We use preventative methods by building systems that are plant positive to avoid synthetic chemical treatment of disease and pests. When your soil is healthy, your plants are healthy.
Long Table Farm invests in Lyme-Old Lyme's community. We feed our community directly. We educate our community by connecting them with the earth and food system. We donate produce to the Shore Line Soup Kitchen.
Long Table Farm is operated by Baylee Drown and Ryan Quinn, with the help of Farm Manager Naomi Sudo, Assistant Farm Manager Audrey and the support of many community members!
